spent labor day at the west indian day parade in
brooklyn, which is the new york city equivalent
to carnival. it was like being back in trinidad,
which I visited earlier in the year. amazing
dancing, music, costumes, food, a mix of people
representing their islands, and most importantly
having a good time.
back to the costumes, which are really over-the-top.
beads, feathers, sequins, and headdresses. even
the spectators dressed the part, with beautiful
prints and layers. tons of inspiration.
